We've all had em. If you haven't, you weren't around in the 80s. I still have mine from when I was twelve, and they still fit! Dr Martins are celebrating 50 years of counter-culture with ten artists singing ten cover tracks, with ten videos featuring the beautiful boot. From The Duke Spirit's If The Kids are United to Dam Funk's, Thing's that Dream's Are Made Of, there's something for everyone, just like the Docks themselves.
We're holding out for Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's version of The Pogue's Dirty Old Town.. release date 30th April but no sign yet.

Small Talk
Roll up roll up as two online fashion heavyweights to get down to business. Dazed Group editorial director Jefferson Hack gets chatty with Business of Fashion founder and editor Imran Amed on Thursday 29th April at 7pm in the Sanderson Hotel, London. Completely sold out, the talk will however be streamed live on various fashion blogs, including one of my favourites, Fashion156.com

Nobody does it better
When it comes to incredible covers, there ain't no cover like a Vogue Italia cover. Innovative without ever crossing over, always inspirational, every one is break-your-heart, sell-your-soul beautiful.
Here are a few to admire.
The Dubliners
Think you've had it tough? Dublin photographer Ross McDonnell has documented the lives of Irish joy riders in the inner city area of Ballymun. Grim, gritty and fearless, McDonnell's work explores the lives of these young people as they develop into "full blown criminals". And there's not a horse in sight.
Writings on the wall
Cork artist Conor Harrington has been combining graffiti and street art with his fine art background to produce some amazing work. With layer upon layer of images and tags, every time you look at them, you see something new. Already spotted by the powers that be in London, he's definitely one to watch.

Insider
If, like me, you could spend hours pouring over shoots, the industry website models.com is the ultimate fashion porn. With profiles on all the players, big and small, from photographers, models, stylists, hair and make-up etc, the list is endless. I came across a huge back catalogue of Grace Coddington's work, including this shoot with Mert & Marcus and Nadia Vodianova for American Vogue, September 2009.

No place like it..
Mega luxury brand company PPR Group, home to Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga and the Gucci Group to name but a few, have sponsored (to the tune of €10 million) a documentary on the current state of the planet. Released free online in June 2009, this beautiful and terrifying work is essential viewing. Expect to think twice about leaving the lights on after.

The dark side
The underside of humanity exposed in all its fragility, the work of Swedish photographer Anders Peterson is the perfect antidote when things seem a little too bright and shiny.
